The final list of top scorers of our team for the season 2006-2007 couldn't be closer. The winners of the golden shoe(s) of 2007 are Arnout, Alessio D and Kosta! Congratulations!

Forward 7 - Mamio 1 1-3

We made it!!!!

After ninety glorious minutes of fierce fighting, stunning sombrero's, supersaves and ruining multiple chances, we won!! Patrick, who was working like a mad man, running around the field all the time, scored the only goal in the first half and deserved it! But Mamio knows it always concedes at least one goal so tension rose and people started shouting against each other during the break, while we should be concentrated instead.

So Daan's prediction started to become truth when Forward scored at the beginning of the second half with a clearly offside goal. Normally you would really get pissed at something like that, but somehow we became used to this practice in this league... Only thing we could do was start all over again and gain control of the match. And so we did! Mamio created a lot of chances, but the good goalkeeper (who was actually just another Forward defender with hardly any experience below the bar) kept all balls out. All but the shot from Zach, who supposedly scored with his knee! Unfortunately we didn't have the warm support ánd filming by Thijs to confirm this.

After that goal Forward was all but beaten but of course Mamio was still very concentrated to prevent this lead from slipping away like it happened so many times before this season. Daan came in for Zach and his agression helped us get through the final minutes of the season. Kosta broke through easily and came eye to eye with the goalkeeper, only to kick it far wide of the goal. While everybody was still shouting in anger at him, he managed to break free again and this time he did score! Wonderful closure of our departing and most remarkable Russian forward. We will miss him.

So final score 3-1 and conflicting reports about whether we will promote to the reserve 5th klasse. This document seems to confirm promotion, but I'm still sceptical. Whatever will happen, we can be very proud of our second place this year. It's the best result for this team ever! Thank you Mamio for this wonderful season, and in particular Arnout and Abe for making this all work!!

Message to Alessio/other wannabe reporters: I don't consider this a full match report, so this time I will not be insulted if I receive another one

Oosterparkers: the REAL story :-)

Obviously my match report was inconsistent, poorly written, ignorent of the truth and totally sucking overall, so Alessio, our official reporter, wrote another report about sunday's match. Here it is. Compare and find the seven differences. - Elmer

The Mamio Zondag 1 team warmly thanks Mamio society for the great field that is finally ready. The image of the field is impressive, it looks highly professional and it is a great pleasure to play on it. Really thanks a lot!

Line up: Alessio the northern, Rosty, Elmer, Johan, Chen; Rink, Arnout, Alessio the southern, Zack; Daan, Kosta. Nobody as substitute, not even a flag man. Mamio will have pay quite a lot for it. The match starts quite easily. Mamio seems to be the owner of the field and Osterpark seems to be afraid. Mamio plays with nice combinations and, quite surprisingly, trying shots from long distances. Everybody seems in a good shape, especially Elmer, Rosty, Chen, Arnout and Zack look particularly motivated. After a nice action from the right side initiated by Rink, the Oosterparkers goal keeper intercepts a shot from Zack, Daan arrives on the ball, he shoots, the goal keeper intercepts again and finally Zack puts it in. Mamio is already partying but Tonje does not validate it. Nobody understands why. At the end of the match, we will discover that Rosty did not understand that the goal was not validated and he thought that the final result was 4-2 instead of 3-2. Well done, Rosty!

After about half an hour Oosterparkers surprisingly scores. The goal arrives from an action from the left side. Maybe there was an offside but nobody will ever know because Mamio has no flag man! At this point Tonje decides that playing at home and not having even a flag man is maybe a little bit too much and he asks a Mamio friend to help and being the flag man. He is the same guy that refereed the match between Mamio and VVK.

Mamio immediately replies with two wonderful goals by Zack (shot from outside the 16 meters box) and by Arnout (heading from a corner). Mamio seems to have an easy game now because it easily arrives at the goal. Zack and Arnout shoot twice on the bar, Kosta cuts the defense and serves Daan who easily scores. Unfortunately Tonje says again that it is offside. Nobody knows which kind of drugs Tonje has taken today but everybody can notice that he is having a lot of dreams. Only the break saves Osterpark.

Meanwhile Diego and Patrik have arrived. Patrik was stopped on a delayed train and Diego was late maybe because he wanted to play only the second half time. In the dressing room Arnout announces the changes: Diego for Kosta and Patrik for Daan. When Mamio gets into the field Arnout changes his mind, he sends Diego out and lets Daan to play.

The match is a bit more quite now, the few nice combinations come from the right side where Rosty is everywhere and Rink plays good. Also Patrik seems to have a lot of energy and he runs wherever. However, as the minutes pass by, Oosterparkers becomes always more dangerous and, as almost everybody could have forecasted, the 2-2 arrives. The dynamics are very funny: the flag man says that Alessio the northern takes the ball just a few centimeters out of the 16 meters box before restarting the action. Nobody can believe that in a such low level league a flag men can even think of minding these tiny details but, believing or not, it is a free kick. The Oosterparkers number 6 shoots, the barriers rebounds it and the ball arrives again to number 6, he dribbles Alessio the southern and he shoots. The ball passes in between a forest of legs and it ends its trajectory in the goal. Amazing, the match is tied again.

The match is finally decided by a doubtable penalty that Tonje gives to Daan because he falls just at the corner of the 16 meters area. Alessio the southern transforms the penalty in his own way. Tonje whistles the end a few minutes in advance. His performance is one of the worst ever seen. Today Mamio has not played a nice match but it can still hope for a second position if VVK looses.

After the match, in the dressing room the feelings are a bit mixed. In particular, there is an animated discussion concerning the fact that Diego did not play. Some guys said that the main point of Mamio team is to have fun playing football together and that everybody should play at least one half; other guys said that it is not nice that people show up always late, and they do not do even a little tiny sacrifice for the team. The fact that Diego did not reply to the email and arrived when the match was already started was perceived quite badly by Arnout and other players. However, also the fact that Diego did not play at all was awful. We believe that being into a team is not easy. There are many occasions in which the ways of thinking highly diverge. Usually, in a football team, these kinds of problems are solved only when the players clarify themselves and when they explain what their intentions are. We hope that Arnout and Diego will find an occasion to talk; maybe Arnout could find the strength to apologize for not letting Diego play and Diego could explain why the hell he is always late and he does not do even little tiny sacrifices for the team.

Mamio 1 - Oosterparkers 5 3-2

A frustrating game ended in a close 3-2 win for the Mamiosi. We are still in the running for a second place, but we depend on GVAV beating VVK today and the result of that match is not known yet.

It seems Mamio should have won with a much more comfortable lead, but because of a combination of poor shooting and strange decisions by our referee, it didn't happen. The first 30 minutes of the game we were far better than Oosterparkers and constantly attacking. Daan fell down a couple of times while he should be standing, and two goals were cancelled for unknown reasons. Somehow we did manage to score twice in the first half: one beautiful header by Arnout and an amazing shot by Zack from the far left side on the field, flying into the upper right corner. Soon to be seen on Youtube! We also conceded a goal: they only attacked once during the first half and it immediately was a goal. So at the break it was 2-1.

After the break, Patrick joined the team and everybody hoped that would improve our finishing skills. I'm not saying Patrick played a bad game (in fact, he played pretty good) but it didn't result in any scoring. On the other side it did. Our own flagsman saw Alessio touching the ball with his hands outside the penalty box (he was the only one in the entire universe and beyond who saw this) so a free kick was rewarded right on the edge of the box. The first shot hammered into the human wall and the second attempt went into the far corner of the improvised goal. 2-2. A horrible scenario unfolded. What if Mamio, who was by far the best side, would not win this game?

Fortunately there was Daan. I talked to him during the break, forbidding him explicitly not to make schwalbes anymore, because he looked like a cheap copy of Arjen Robben. But he did, in the 0.1 second he moved through the far corner of the penalty box and some opponent breathed a little too much in his direction, he fell down like a dying swan. And it WAS a penalty. Alessio D. scored it easily and within a few minutes the match was over. So no victory to be proud of, we should've won with a much bigger lead and if VVK draws against Rapiditas, we see ourselves in front of the task to beat Forward 7 with a five goal difference. We only managed to do that once this season!

GVAV Rapiditas 8 - Mamio 1 4-1

Today, Mamio lost control of becoming second in the league. After a deserved 4-1 loss against Rapiditas, Mamio is hoping GVAV will also perform well against direct competitor VVK. If GVAV beats them next sunday, and Mamio wins the next two matches, we will still become second. But it's a long shot!

Mamio missed some key players in today's match. Especially the central midfield was lacking the experience, hard work (Arnout) and technical marvel (Alessio) we usually have there. And although Patrick, Florian and Daniele did a good job, we missed an experienced goalkeeper. Particularly in the first thirty minutes of the game we were completely overrun by the well playing opponents. Their midfield and central and right forward were from a different level normally seen in this league. Within 30 minutes, we were 3-0 behind and the match was virtually over.

Then, Diego came in to strengthen the midfield and our game improved considerably. Also Patrick, who changed from goalkeeper to rightwing midfielder in the second half, was a major improvement. Our game became more solid and Kosta, who is ever improving and played once again his best match so far, scored twice in the second half. One of the two goals was incorrectly cancelled by the referee: he whistled for an offside, went to the linesman to check who said it wasn't offside but a foul. It clearly wasn't a foul, and it wasn't offside either so it should've been a goal. In the last fifteen minutes most of our players were pretty exhausted and we were almost overrun again. 'Fortunately' we conceded only one goal more, which brought the game to a final score of 4-1.

Mamio 1 - VVK 3 1-0

It is a fresh day of May, perfect to play football. Incredible news: something got wrong with Diego’s alarm clock, HE IS ON TIME. However, he forgot the protections for the legs at the University, he runs back there to pick them up and, as usual he joins the team with half an hour of delay. Everybody is running, warming up, doing nice exercises, etc. but Kosta, with a Siberian winter coat, prefers to quietly talk to Maria, which is the only spectator of today’s match. Also the referee and the VVK team is ready, so the match can start 15 minutes before 2 pm. Mamio’s line up is as follows: Alessio the northern (finally with real gloves); Marcel, Elmer, Folke and Florian; Rink, Arnout, Alessio the southern and Patrik; Diego and Daan.

From the first 15 minutes the match looks promising, the two teams play openly and with nice combinations. Both teams are tactically well arranged and the techniques of the players is pretty good. Mamio’s actions often come from the right side. There both Marcel and Patrik guarantee a nice pushing and also Alessio the southern and Diego visit that zone. Just there, after a nice pass of Patrik, Alessio the southern manages to give a nice cross, Daan is just a bit late and Rink’s shot is not strong enough. After a few minutes Arnout gets injured and leaves the field, Kosta substitutes him. Folke advances on the midline and Kosta takes his position. Kosta has a great past in Russia as a central defender but Alessio the southern thinks this is a crazy idea. After debating a little bit, Kosta wins. Around the 20th minute, the goal arrives. Diego dribbles and gives a nice pass to Alessio the southern. Daan goes deep taking two defenders away and Alessio the southern explodes a great shoot from outside the 16-meters box. The goalkeeper is maybe a bit out of the goal and he can only see the ball entering just below the bar: 1-0!

The match changes: now it becomes much more tough. Alessio the southern makes a dangerous slide to the most talented VVK player, that falls down. It is a bad injury. His arm got out of the scapula. The VVK player had been operated last November and this is not the first time that this happens to him. Three or four improvised first help doctors try to replace the arm in the scapula, the scene is not a romantic one. However it seems that the doctors succeeds on their work because the VVK number 10 comes back into the field at the beginning of the second half.

Before the break, it is necessary to report about Marcel’s shot form 35 meters and about a very nice canito of Diego to the VVK player number 6. The second half starts Chen as lineman. He has just arrived from Den Haag where he has played a maratona football training. His work as lineman will contribute to Mamio’s victory today. Mamio starts with Kosta forward, Diego on the left side (replacing Rink) and Arnout again in the middle. Folke goes again to his position in the middle of the defence. The VVK number 6 goes to the defence (maybe he fells a bit ashamed after Diego’s canito).

The match has completely lost any technical attributes. It is just a big fight where both teams battle for every single ball. Mamio’s defence looks like Alkatraz! Marcel, Elmer, Folke and Florian are unbeatable today. They do not miss any high ball and they intervene with nice headings always before the ball bounds. Meanwhile, in the front, Mamio misses a couple of chances contrattacking. Kosta left shoot is too weak, Alessio right shoot goes 1 meter out, Daan has a nice chance alone against the goalkeeper but he decides to make a lob instead of killing the keeper and the ball is out. Diego dedicates himself on defending and Patrik plays too much on the side. Consequently the match remains open until the end. In at least 2 situations Alessio the Northern saves Mamio’s ass. For example, about 10 minutes to go there is a corner for Mamio. Alessio the southern asks Folke to go in the box in order to jump and he replaces him in the defence. But the corner is given short to Folke that passes back to Alessio the southern. He tries to do the craziest thing possible: a dribbling! He looses the ball and VVK contrattacks 3 against 3. Fortunately Elmer obliges the forward towards the left side but he gives a nice pass in the middle. The ball is about to arrive to VVK forward who will be completely alone against Mamio’s goalkeeper! All Mamio’s players have their heart up into their troth and each of them prays for his own Saint. All efforts of today risk to become useless… But Alessio the Northern transforms himself in Superman and decides to get out with a perfect timing choice. He gets the ball anticipating VVK forward and he kicks the ball away with a powerful shoot that rescues everybody’s heart. Mamio is still alive!

After 55 minutes of suffering the referee finally decides to end the battle. Congratulation, Mamio. It is a great victory with a perfect Catenaccio stile.
